Before scheduling a therapy session, it is recommended that we set up a free 15 minute intro call, which gives us a chance to get to know each other. We will discuss your needs for therapy and you will have the opportunity to ask any questions.
We’ll talk about rates, insurance, availability, etc.
If we both feel this is a good fit, we will schedule our first therapy appointment. I'll send you a couple of quick forms to complete before our first session. I'll also send you a link for our video calls that you can use for the session.
During our first session, we will get to know each other and talk about some of the things you might want to work on. We will also continue to assess for fit as it is important that you work with a therapist that is best able to support your needs.
I currently accept some insurances, but this is subject to change at any point, so please inquire.
In some cases you may be eligible to use out-of-network insurance benefits. You will be responsible for paying for each session in full at time of appointment. If appropriate, I will provide a super bill each month that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Call your insurance company to see if you have out-of-network benefits. If you do, they typically will reimburse you for 60-80% of the cost of each session.
Your out-of-network benefits are usually listed in the Summary of Benefits information on your insurance company’s website. It’s always a good idea to call the number on the back of your health insurance card listed under Member Services
Questions to ask your insurance company to determine if you have coverage:

Am I covered for out-of-network behavioral health or mental health services? Am I able to use these benefits for telehealth?
- Do I have an out-of-network deductible? If so, what is my deductible, and how much is left?

How much of the fee does my insurance cover for an out-of-network provider? (usually a percentage)

What does my insurance company consider to be the max allowable charge for a 45-minute therapy session?

Are there any limitations to session length or number of sessions?
- How do I submit my claims, and how long will it take to be reimbursed?
I can provide you with monthly invoices called a “super bill” that will include all of the necessary information for your claims to be processed.
Yes, I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots in my schedule. If you do not think you can afford my full fee, please don’t hesitate to contact me. If I’m unable to offer you a sliding scale spot, I’d be happy to offer referrals to trusted clinicians in the area.
I am currently licensed in New York State so can only see patients who live in NY.
I meet with the all of my patients at least once per week. I may recommend that we increase the frequency of sessions to best meet your needs.
My approach is based on psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, meaning - therapy is not a quick fix. If you would like to set up our sessions to be short term, goal oriented or solution focused, I am happy to offer that option to you as well.
Therapy works best when sessions are attended regularly and consistently, so it is to your benefit to keep appointments as they are scheduled. That said, some situations are unavoidable, and if you need to cancel a session, please contact me as soon as possible. If you are not able to provide 24-hours notice of a cancellation, you will be billed for the session.
